Having researched 19 webcams and tested 6 webcams, we believe that if you need a webcam for your video calls, streaming, or recording, you should get the Logitech HD Pro C920 webcam. It takes better pictures and videos than any other model we've tested, beating even the newest and most expensive models. It has a sharp 1080p video at 30 frames per second with fast autofocus and fast and accurate auto white balance; it is easy to install and use and at around $ 60 it does not cost much more than low budget webcams.

The C920 has been around since 2012 and does not include high-end features such as 4K video, 60fps recording, or Windows Hello face authentication. But there's still no better webcam for the basics, and price declines have only added to the value of the C920 - you can usually find it for $ 60 or less today, a significant drop from to the $ 100 it cost.

If you need a less expensive option, or something that you can take with you, we recommend the Logitech HD Webcam C615. Its video quality does not match that of the C920 - the picture is not as sharp, the frame rate is lower in full resolution, the autofocus is slower and the auto white balance is not as Precise - but the C615 is as easy to set up high, offers 1080p resolution, and has the best quality of any webcam under $ 50. Its mount also leans around the camera to protect the lens, making the C615 a better portable option than the C920.

If you regularly use your webcam to run on sites like YouTube or Twitch, and want to stream a smooth 60fps video on your 60fps movie, you'll enjoy the Logitech C922x Pro Stream webcam. The C920, our first choice, is cheaper and our testers preferred its picture quality, but the C922x was a close second and it uses an identical microphone and monitor clip. It also supports a smoother video at 60 fps in 720p, it includes a tripod and supports (under Windows only) a background replacement function simulating a green screen effect.
